Gunflint Trail Series

Outside the trapper’s cabin @ chik-wauk

This painting was the first one to be worked on during my stay at the residency program here on the Gunflint. After touring with Chik-Wauk museum with Bill, I spied this scenic location just off the beaten path. Views of Sag Lake with sweeping hills, rocks and stoic trees.

The cross river overlook

As soon as I got to Round Lake Rd I was stunned by the beauty of the Cross River as it rippled through the dramatic scenery. A fall scene with towering white pines as a backdrop. Rocks cascading through the scene.

Seagull Lake I & II

Seagull Lake at the Trail’s End Campground has a great view in this two part painting. View one is to the left of the boat landing as you enter the park. View two is to the right of the landing. I started working on these pieces simultaneously on the same easel plein air.
